Public laboratory test data resource

About AssayIndex

A quick guide to what it does and what the result labels mean.

What it is

Find a test across labs

AssayIndex searches public test information from reference, university, hospital, public-health, regional, and specialty laboratories.

Search by test name, gene, common mnemonic, code, lab, method, or condition. Results are not ranked to favor a lab because it is large. This testing build uses public catalog data, not patient data.

It started as a Coursera app-building thesis. A/I just means Assay Index.

Result labels

Published, staged, and live

Verified AssayIndex

Published records

Records reviewed for the AssayIndex release and linked back to their sources.

Structurally validated staged data

NIH GTR

Structurally validated submissions shown separately while testing. They are submitted by labs and are not independently verified by NIH.

Live source candidate

Lab directories

Matches from connected lab directories. They stay labeled as candidates until reviewed.

Data notes

Check current details with the laboratory

Downloads are versioned and include source attribution and SHA-256 checksums. Prices, turnaround times, methods, and availability can change.

AssayIndex is an informational reference workspace. Verify current requirements, ordering details, and billing guidance with the source laboratory before ordering or submitting claims.

Do not enter patient names or identifiers in search.

What AssayIndex does

Discovery with evidence context attached

AssayIndex organizes fragmented laboratory information for discovery and comparison while keeping the evidence status of each result visible.

Federated Test Discovery

Search normalized records, published source offerings, staged registry submissions, and explicitly requested live-directory candidates.

Evidence-Aware Results

See whether a result is published, staged, or live before treating it as reviewed evidence.

Cross-Laboratory Comparison

Compare source-listed codes, specimens, methods, handling, turnaround times, prices, and limitations where available.

Normalized Assay Concepts

Connect laboratory-specific offerings to shared assay concepts without erasing source-specific details or missing values.

Provenance and Reproducible Releases

Trace claims to supporting sources and download versioned JSON and CSV releases with attribution and SHA-256 checksums.

Current Public Release

Published catalog snapshot

These figures describe the current published release, including the smaller fully normalized layer and source-native offerings. Search may also surface structurally validated staged registry submissions and explicitly requested live-source candidates, which remain labeled separately.
